Drummers getting warmed up for Feb 1 Wakulla River Heritage Carnival at the park. Check out the Video!
At 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1 this new event honors the memory of people who left traces of their lives along the Wakulla River. The Wakulla River Heritage Carnival celebrates with music and food the connections the river provided to the Caribbean islands. Join us for Windows on History with Yazid Johnson and his drumming circle opening the event at 11 a.m. Discover who surprised the Apalache natives on the river in 1528. Are there any survivors of the native populations that would include Creek and Black Seminoles?
Following lunch your energy can be worked off to the music of Common ‘Taters and the Turn-Ups, a southern funk band playing from 2-3:30 p.m.
There will be enough time for you to board a river cruise (not included in the price) or take a leisurely walk at the park.
