Upon the Face of the Water, a Brief History of Wakulla Springs A native of Madision, Florida, Tracy J. Revels received her PhD from Florida State University in 1990. She is the author of Grander in Her Daughters: Florida's Women During the Civil War, which received the 2005 Rembert Patrick Prize as the best academic work in Florida history. Her other works include Watery Eden: A History of Wakulla Springs (2002), Sunshine Paradise: A History of Florida Tourism (2011) and Florida's Civil War: Terrible Sacrifices (2016). An avid Sherlockian as well as historian, Revels is a Professor of History at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
