Members of Friends of Wakulla Springs State Park learn what’s happening at the park and participate in the protection and improvement of its natural and cultural resources. In the past 24 years, we supported the acquisition of more land to protect the aquifer; we’ve written grants that conserved precious artwork in the lodge that opened in 1937 and replaced the lodge roof, remodeled the ticket office to include interpretive exhibits, landscaped and cleaned up trails. We have spent more than $150,000 to upgrade river tour boats to electric and solar, and completely refurbished one glass bottom boat. If you don’t or can’t volunteer outdoors, there’s always “indoor” work to be done.
